Social Studies

MONDAY- 8/18/08-Return scrapbook notice signed by Wednesday. Notebook is not due until the 25th. This will count as a homework assignment.

TUESDAY-8/19/08-Bring in an old magazine tomorrow. We will be using these to make masks.

WEDNESDAY-8/20/08-Scrapbook notice sheets were due today. Today was the last turn in day unless you were absent to get homework credit. The notebooks are not due until Monday. Today in class student worked on an identity mask. We will complete the masks on tomorrow. This will be a completion grade. There is no HW for tonight.

THURSDAY-8/21/08-Today we completed “Identity Masks”. Today’s lesson for Facing History focused on the word perspective. Student watched a video “The Sneetches”. We discussed how groups can be formed within different communities. The class discussed We and They and how the two words related to our society. Students read a poem called “We and They” by Rudyard Kipling. Students completed a work sheet and answered questions about the poem. No Homework tonight. Tomorrow we will complete the Facing History activities. On Monday students will be assigned textbooks.

FRIDAY-8/22/08-Week 2 map skills bellwork was completed and turned in today. Students were introduced to weekly newspapers that will be used along with the textbook. A classwork sheet was complete and turned in after reading the newspaper. Students worked on scrapbook covers. REMEMBER NOTEBOOKS ARE DUE MONDAY.  Students were assigned textbooks. Textbooks along with damage sheets will be sent home on Monday. PLEASE COVER ALL BOOKS.
