WEDNESDAY-10/15/08-All classes worked on research information for the Egyptian Pyramids and Temples. Each student worked on (1). History of the Pyramids -1 paragraph (2). Step Pyramid-1 paragraph (3). A pyramid of their choice from the list in class -1 paragraph . (4). History of Temples. 1 temple of their choice from the list given in class-1 paragraph. THIS INFORMATION WILL BE USED TO CREATE A BROCHURE
Thursday-10/16/08-Computer Lab (All classes will use information from research to create a brochure)
Friday-10/17/08-Computer Lab ( All classes will complete Egyptian Pyramids and Temples Brochures). Brochures will be graded.

WEDNESDAY-10/8/08-Students will work on a rough draft for their “Hieroglyphic” story. Final stories will be written in class tomorrow and placed on individual paper towel rolls. STUDY FOR QUIZ

WEDNESDAY-10/1/08-Review using online quiz for section 1 & 2. Vocabulary Builder for section 1 & 2 (use to review vocabulary/keep to study for section Quiz). Egyptian Activity (This is an in class activity about Egypt’s Religion and the Pyramids) This work will also go in the social studies scrapbooks. STUDY FOR QUIZ
THURSDAY-10/2/08-Chapter 4 Section 1 & 2 Quiz ( Test will cover all vocabulary and main ideas for these sections. There will also be true and false questions. Complete in class activity.

MONDAY-9/8/08-CH. 2 review worksheet(Due Tuesday). Online textbook information went home today.(Parent Signature Due by Friday). In class poster project Thursday.(1/2 sheet of poster and a family photo required). This assignment will count as a test grade. All work for the poster will be done in class.

WEDNESDAY-9/9/08-Chapter 2 Test. (The online textbook practice book can help you be ready for the test.
THURSDAY-9/10/08-In class poster (Family Tradition/Cultural Poster) If you don’t do a poster your grade will be a zero. I will help you with everything in class. You can bring any object that can be put on the poster from home. Most of the poster pictures will come from magazines. I have some in the class room. You can bring clip art pictures, but you must have a family photo. If you have questions please ask before Thursday.

9/4/08-THURSDAY-Study Chapter 2 Section 1 & 2. All students will need a half sheet of poster board for an in class project next week. (Poster board due by Tuesday, 9/9). We will be working on this project on 9/11. Details will come home on Monday.

TUESDAY-08/26/08-Will cover section 2 of chapter 1. Homework- Worksheet Ch. 1 Review. Due Wednesday. Will review for the section 1 & 2 Quiz.
WEDNESDAY-08/27/08-We will not be having the section 1 Quiz today. Section 1 & 2 will be combined into one quiz. Study vocabulary words and any notes from class. Use the chapter review to study by for the chapter test.
THURSDAY-08/28/08-Chapter 1-Section 1 & 2 Quiz.
FRIDAY-08/29/08-Chapter 1 Test. Students will work in their scrapbooks for chapter 1. Remember scrapbooks will stay in the classroom unless you are absent.

MONDAY- 8/18/08-Return scrapbook notice signed by Wednesday. Notebook is not due until the 25th. This will count as a homework assignment.
TUESDAY-8/19/08-Bring in an old magazine tomorrow. We will be using these to make masks.
WEDNESDAY-8/20/08-Scrapbook notice sheets were due today. Today was the last turn in day unless you were absent to get homework credit. The notebooks are not due until Monday. Today in class student worked on an identity mask. We will complete the masks on tomorrow. This will be a completion grade. There is no HW for tonight.
THURSDAY-8/21/08-Today we completed “Identity Masks”. Today’s lesson for Facing History focused on the word perspective. Student watched a video “The Sneetches”. We discussed how groups can be formed within different communities. The class discussed We and They and how the two words related to our society. Students read a poem called “We and They” by Rudyard Kipling. Students completed a work sheet and answered questions about the poem. No Homework tonight. Tomorrow we will complete the Facing History activities. On Monday students will be assigned textbooks.
FRIDAY-8/22/08-Week 2 map skills bellwork was completed and turned in today. Students were introduced to weekly newspapers that will be used along with the textbook. A classwork sheet was complete and turned in after reading the newspaper. Students worked on scrapbook covers. REMEMBER NOTEBOOKS ARE DUE MONDAY. Students were assigned textbooks. Textbooks along with damage sheets will be sent home on Monday. PLEASE COVER ALL BOOKS.
